Soft Tissue Injury Management

WHAT IT IS

On average, Soft Tissue Injuries represent 30% of Work Comp claims and 70% of Work Comp Costs.  Soft Tissue Injuries include, but are not limited to sprains/strains to the lower back, neck, shoulders, elbows, and knees.

Most incidences are not necessarily tied to a specific action, misstep or accident.  They are often the cumulative result of the workforce not adapting to the form or level of physical activity within their job function.

TWO CONSIDERATIONS

Due to the high frequency and cost of claims, employers should take specific steps to reduce incident rate and reduce claim duration on the most expensive and disruptive claims.  Fortunately, they are potentially the most preventable of claims.

SHORTFALLS WITHIN CURRENT APPROACH TO CARE

Typically, an unresolved soft tissue injury is treated with modalities such as occupational medicine, physical therapy, diagnostic studies and eventually a referral to a specialist.

These modalities are often ineffective, costly and time-consuming. More importantly, they do not address the underlying cause of the injury nor do they offer long term solutions to prevent injuries from reoccurring.

When it comes to soft tissue injuries, empirical evidence is extraordinarily clear.  Employers who seek to save time, money & secure a better outcome should avoid the trial & error merry go round.

THE AEGIS DIFFERENCE

Aegis offers a unique approach to the management of soft tissue injuries.  Our program delivers evidence-based assessment by a nationally recognized Kinesiotherapist and Sports Trainer.  The employee is prescribed a custom regimen of targeted training that yields long-term solutions and relief of pain or injury in a cost-effective and timely manner.

We do not chase or otherwise react to symptoms.  We begin by engaging in a formal process to understand the true postural causes of pain.  Based upon those findings, our specialist formulates the corrective exercises needed to correct posture, strengthen and support areas involved in job activity, as well as alleviate pain and dysfunction.

Once the fundamental posture is corrected, the employee will obtain long term resolution of pain and injury. This leads to more productive work hours, a more productive work life, a reduction in future incidents and/or duration of the claim.
